ISKCON DALLAS
Home of Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji
OUR STORY
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is a worldwide spiritual movement dedicated to the philosophy and practice of Krishna consciousness, also known as bhakti-yoga.
ISKCON of Dallas was established in the early 1970s under the direction of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, Founder-Acharya of ISKCON. During this period of growth across North America, Srila Prabhupada personally guided the development of the Dallas center and entrusted leadership to dedicated disciples, including His Holiness Tamal Krishna Goswami Maharaj.

In 1972, these sacred Deities were secured from Jaipur, India, for several temples, including Dallas. Through remarkable circumstances, an ancient Deity of Krishna, over five hundred years old, was discovered and brought to America along with a newly carved Deity of Srimati Radharani. Upon Their installation in Dallas, Srila Prabhupada named Them Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji and established Them as the presiding Deities of the temple.

Since that time, Sri Sri Radha Kalachandji have remained the spiritual heart of ISKCON of Dallas. Located in East Dallas, the temple stands as one of the earliest Krishna temples in North America and continues to serve as a vibrant center of worship, education, and community life, sharing the timeless path of bhakti-yoga throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area and beyond.
OUR PRACTICE
Krishna Consciousness, also known as Bhakti Yoga, is one of the great spiritual traditions of the Vedas. In this monotheistic practice, the Absolute Truth, the source of all life, is understood to be a person. His name is Krishna, a sanskrit word for God, which means the ‘attractive to everyone’.
The foundational teaching of Bhakti yoga is that we are the soul within the body, the consciousness that animates all life. Anything alive, then, signals the presence of the soul.

The teachings of Krishna consciousness gives us an understanding of our soul-self, and guides us in building loving relationships with others, with nature, and with God. The practice includes mantra meditation, the study of Vedic philosophy, and active service.

The following values from the Bhagavad-gita guide our life:
